Indian Penal Code,1860  - Section 304-B

Dowry death - Death of bride within 15 months of marriage by hanging - Evidence of father of deceased that accused were harassing the deceased as they were not happy - Challan put up against husband (accused) and his father and mother - Evidence showed that accused were demanding dowry and Rs. one lakh for purchase of house - Husband convicted - Acquittal of father and mother as they were living separately and, therefore, there was doubt about their participation in the commission of the offence.
