The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973  - Section 482

Petition for quashing the pending criminal proceedings on the basis of a compromise arrived at between the first informant-complainant and the appellants - dismissed - Hence, the appeal - It was a case which has its origin in the civil dispute between the parties, which dispute has been resolved by them - The Supreme Court held that the prosecution where the complainant is not ready to support the allegations, the continuance of such proceedings is nothing but an empty formality - Impugned order passed by the High Court set aside - Prosecution quashed - Appeal allowed.
